Hi Guys.

After talking to a few friends on here, it seems as though that All Star games aren't really worth playing or watching.

Yes we had just wittnessed one of the greatest NBA All Star games by watching the West beat the East by 3 points, but which would you prefer? A NBA, NFL or Major League Baseball Championship or playing in an All Star game?

In Australia, we scrapped these type of games in our Code of Football (Not Soccer Australian Rules Football) back in 1999, due to the fact that nobody turns up, and super star players getting injured in these games.

In Rugby we do have an All Star game, but it doesn't involve my State so I don't give a rat.

Anyway, you guys know what's best, and you're all more educated on your own Americans Sports, plus have greater knowledge about your Sports than I do, but hopefully you'd all hlep me to follow it!

Here's the problem in the U.S.
And yeah I was gonna drink and watch that game I just happened to be under the weather so missed it.
U.S. teams are region-specific and I think it's hard with the NBA or NFL for people to get into the idea of a game that doesn't involve their particular team. The only way in is if they're a fan of a particular player. One of our Trailblazers was said to be in the All Stars game, which is why I was going to watch it but that was the only reason.
Over here all the teams are regional. People feel like it's your hometown team even though players are traded in and out, and none are actually from your home town. People stick to their teams often for life, whether or not the team is doing well. When I moved to the East Coast, for instance, I kept some tabs on how my team from out here was doing, and when I came back I started following again.
A good game's a good game, and plenty excuse for beer and wings, but it's just right in the NBA season, and doesn't involve the actual NBA teams. I think that's mainly it. I don't know what they can do to get more of an audience or a fan base to come watch. If they made a virtual holiday of it like the Superbowl, people would definitely do it more. Interesting topic.
